Editorial policy
The rules every page is checked against before it publishes.
No advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no referral arrangements with installers or manufacturers. Nothing here is written in exchange for payment.
What gets a page rejected
A price, a cost estimate or a payback period. A named brand recommended as best. An invented statistic or a study that cannot be named. A claim of having installed or tested anything. A jurisdiction-specific rule — a net metering rate, an incentive, an interconnection requirement — stated as though it applied everywhere. And any instruction that would have a reader working on a live DC array or mains connection.
Figures that are allowed
Physical constants and datasheet conventions: the roughly half-volt output of a silicon cell, standard test conditions, typical degradation rates, the percentage limits designers use for voltage drop. These are properties of the technology rather than of a market, and they do not go stale.
If this changes
If the site ever carries commercial links, this page will say so before any appear, and each will be marked where it appears rather than disclosed only here.
